noun

running script; semi-cursive script (a style of Chinese calligraphy combining the legibility of regular script with the fluidity of cursive script)

One of the five major script styles in Chinese calligraphy. It is more fluid and faster to write than regular script (楷书) but more legible than cursive script (草书). The 'Preface to the Orchid Pavilion' (兰亭序) by Wang Xizhi is considered the supreme example of this style.
