grammatical particle; auxiliary word; function word with grammatical but no lexical meaning
In Chinese grammar, particles (助词) are a subclass of function words (虚词) that serve grammatical purposes but carry little concrete lexical meaning. They are traditionally classified into three types: (1) Structural particles (结构助词) such as 的, 地, 得, and 所, which connect grammatical constituents; (2) Aspect particles (时态助词/动态助词) such as 了, 着, and 过, which indicate aspect or temporal stage of actions; and (3) Modal particles (语气助词) such as 呢, 吗, 吧, and 啊, which express mood, attitude, or tone.
Particles in Chinese are divided into three major categories: structural particles, aspect particles, and modal particles.
"De," "di," and "de" are all commonly used structural particles.

The modal particle "ma" is usually placed at the end of interrogative sentences.
Le, zhe, and guo are particles that indicate the aspect of actions.
