Historically and traditionally used in Chinese contexts, especially among Chinese-speaking Muslim communities. The modern, more common standard term is '伊斯兰教'. '回教' is often considered somewhat dated or traditional. It is derived from the Hui ethnic group, many of whom are Muslim.
